🫙 Contribute to my tip jar

Whether you're a member or not, one-time payments help me immensely. The process is simple; no need for any account. I set the suggested amount to €25, but you can easily change that to whichever number suits you best. (Terms apply.)

Where does the money go?

All payments go through Stripe, my secure payment service provider. This means there are no non-essential middlemen involved; apart from Stripe's standard transaction fees, the rest of the money (almost 100%) goes directly to me. (This also applies to contributions made via the Super Member tier.)

I separate the income into three categories:

🛠️
Operating costs. These are subscriptions that my site and all its parts require to operate year-round — domain provider, email service, website builder, newsletter hosting, software suits …
Coffee fund. I use a very small portion of the money when I need a break from the monotony of writing from home. It covers a cup of Americano and an (occasional) éclair.
🐷
Savings. The rest of the funds go into two special vaults, one reserved for future creative endeavours related to my website, and the other kept as a locked retirement account.

As someone who grew up in a frugal household, I've developed a somewhat strict relationship with money in the sense that I don't like to spend it unless it serves a clear and meaningful purpose. For this reason, I feel confident that all the funds that arrive via the membership and the tip jar are being put to clear, well-defined, and easily traceable uses. (An annual financial statement releases May 1 via the Moonquake newsletter, starting in 2025.)

🔗 Spread the word

Financial support not viable? I completely understand. You can still help by forwarding my work — essays, newsletters, homepage — to a friend or foe.
