Where does the money go?
All payments go through Stripe, my secure payment service provider. This means there are no non-essential middlemen. Apart from Stripe's standard transaction fees, the rest of the money (almost 100%) goes to me.
I separate this income into three categories:
Coffee fund I use a portion of the money for times when I need a break from the monotony of writing from home. It covers a cup of Americano and the occasional éclair.Operating costs These are subscriptions that my digital infrastructure requires to operate year-round: domain provider, email service, website builder, newsletter hosting, software suits, etc.Savings The rest goes into three special vaults, one for creative endeavours, another for emergencies, and one kept as a locked retirement account.And that's not all. Your contribution has ripple effects:
(As someone who grew up in a frugal household, I've developed a strict relationship with money in the sense that I don't like to spend it unless it serves a clear and meaningful purpose. For this reason, I feel confident that all the funds that arrive via the tip button are being put to well-defined uses.)
